The buddhist shrine was, in our opinion, the best work at the event.
The approach to the shrine was peaceful, barren. The banners made the Way clear,
and they fit in well with the range of peaks in the background. We approached
the entry way respectfully, with the playa presenting a cleanliness of aspect
we had not noticed before.
The view through the portal showed rocks with dark areas around them, appearing
at first to be damp earth, clearly not possible on the playa.
The view beyond the portal, however, took our breaths. The artists had integrated the rocks with the view of the mountain peaks beyond, using the circle of the entry to arch over and frame the sky and peaks.
